MEET YOUR TEACHER
Curtis Stewart
Volunteer citizenship teacher • Curriculum developer
Curtis is a Chicago-based volunteer citizenship teacher and the developer of a curriculum covering all 128 questions in the USCIS civics study guide.
After seeing fear and uncertainty affect immigrant communities in Chicago, he decided to channel his concern into practical action. His goal is to help aspiring citizens understand the material, pass the naturalization test, and gain a stronger voice in their communities and in American democracy.
Curtis serves as a Chicago election judge and has a long history of nonprofit and community service. He brings decades of experience in training, communications, and explaining complex subjects in clear, approachable language. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and professional credentials in sustainable buildings and construction.
He teaches at Chicago Welcome Center with support from his employer’s Volunteer Time Off program and the Center’s founders.
